Constitution of the Criminal Justice Student Organization
Milwaukee Area Technical College

Article I. Name
The name of this organization shall be Criminal Justice Student Organization at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Article II. Object
The object of this Criminal Justice Student Organization shall be:
1. To foster relationships between students in the Criminal Justice Major and Milwaukee Area Technical College.
2. To promote scholarship as basic to intellectual achievement.
3. To set social and moral standards.
4. To recruit and promote students to become members of this organizations and Criminal Justice majors at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Article III. Membership
There shall be two classes of membership. Officer and Regular.
1. Officer- The officer membership of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall be composed of chapter members chosen to serve an officer role by the organization and are in good standing.
2. Regular- The regular membership of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall be composed of all members in good standing.

Article IV. Officers
1. The officers of this organization shall be members in good financial and academic standing.
2. All officers shall serve a term of one year; all other officers shall serve a term of six months. The term of office shall begin no later than the first week of (fall or spring semester).
3. If for some reason the Vice President can not finish the term of one year. The President will appoint the suitable person for the position of Vice President.
4. To remove an officer from the board, three other board members must unanimously agree to propose a motion to dismiss to the general membership.  The officer in question has the right to address the voting membership before a vote is taken.  A motion to dismiss the officer must pass at one meeting to be binding.
5. Officers automatically relinquish their position when they miss all the meetings.

Article V. Meetings
1. Officers would meet at least one time per month on day chosen by officers.
2. Members shall meet with officers once a month on a day chosen by organization.
3. Officers shall be responsible for notifying chapter of all regular and special meetings of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.

Article VI. Voting
1. The voting body of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall be all members of Criminal Justice Student Organization.
2. All voting members shall be in good academic and financial standing with the Criminal Justice Student Organization and Milwaukee Area Technical College.
3. Quorum 2/3 of all members or more than half of all members attending meeting constitutes a Quorum for a business.
4. Voice. The organization advisors and alumni shall have voice but not vote.

Article VII. Advisor
1. Two Criminal Justice Student Organization advisors shall be chosen by the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
2. One advisor must be employed by Milwaukee Area Technical College.
3. One must be employed full time on the Campus where the student organization was formed.
4. They shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
5. Additional Advisors may be added to the organization but need not be full time employees of Milwaukee Area Technical College- The advisors shall be voted on by the organization.
6. The advisors for this organization are: Instructor James Dailey.

Article VIII. Unanimous Agreements and Policies
1. All members of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall act in accordance with rules and regulations approved by governing body.
2. All rules and policies shall be in harmony with those recommended by Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Article IX. Violations
1. Violation of any regulations of this constitution or its related bylaws shall be the occasions for penalties established by the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
2. Any dispute growing out of the violation of the Criminal Justice Student Organization rules and regulations shall be handled by Milwaukee Area Technical College or designee.
3. If member or officer does not meet rules and regulations as stated in Constitution and Bylaws of the Criminal Justice Student Organization they will lose membership and office.

Article X. Amendments
1. This constitution may be amended by 2/3 or more than half of the voting members attending meeting of the Criminal Justice Student Organization, provided notice of the proposed amendment has been given in writing at the preceded meeting.

Article XI. Standards of Membership
1.Members of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall obtain a minimum GPA of a 2.5 semester and cumulative.
2. Officers of Criminal Justice Student Organization must maintain a minimum GPA of a 3.0 semester and cumulative.
3. Members must be enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
4. Officers should have completed at least 15 college credits in the criminal justice program to be considered for office.
