Bylaws of the Criminal Justice Student Organization
Milwaukee Area Technical College
Article I. Definitions
1. The named organization at Milwaukee Area Technical College shall be composed of all members in good standing, both officer and regular.
2. The officers shall be the governing body of the Criminal Justice Student Organization and shall be composed of officers and members in good standing at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
Article II. Meetings
1. Time and Place of Meetings
a. The Criminal Justice Student Organization at Milwaukee Area Technical College shall meet monthly at the time and place designated by the members and officers of the organization.
b. The officers shall meet monthly at the time and place designated by the officers.
2. Special Meetings may be called by the officers giving notice to members at least 24 hours before meeting.
3. Order of business
a. The officers of the Criminal Justice Student Organization shall meet prior to bi-weekly meetings to draw up the agenda for the meeting.

4. Voting
a. At all meetings with officers and members 2/3 of total membership or more than half of members attending meeting shall constitute Quorum.
b. If member can not attend meeting an absentee ballot will be provided. This ballot must be returned to the board within two days of next scheduled meeting.
Article III. Finances
1. The dues of each member of the Criminal justice Student Organization shall be determined by officers the first meeting after new installation of new members and are applicable to new members and active members each semester. Members will be expected to pay within the month of the following billing. Voting Rights will be suspended if member does not meet financial standing.
2. Dues shall be collected by treasurer of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
3. Dues shall be $20 per semester per member.
Article IV. Selection of officers
1. Office of the President
a. The term of presidency shall be held for one semester
b. Members shall meet 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA and be in good financial standing with organization and MATC.
2. Office of Vice President
a. The term of office shall be held for one semester.
b. Members shall meet 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA and be in good financial standing with organization and MATC.
3. Office of Secretary and Treasure
a. The term of office shall be held for six months.
b. Members shall meet 3.0 semester and cumulative GPA and be in good financial standing with organization and MATC.
c. Officer shall record and track minutes from officer and officer/member meetings.
d. Officer shall collect and track all membership dues.
Article V. Duties of Officers
1. The President shall;
a. Have overall responsibility for the operation of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
b. Call and preside at all meeting of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
c. Report as required to the advisors of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
d. Perform all other duties usually pertaining to this office.
2. The Vice President shall;
a. Perform the duties of the president in his/her absence, inability to serve or at his/her call.
b. Perform all other duties usually pertain to this office.
3. The secretary shall;
a. Keep an up to date roll of the members of the Criminal Justice Student Organization and call the roll at all meetings.
b. Keep full minutes of all meetings of the Criminal Justice Student Organization from the date this organization is founded; keep copies of all contracts and correspondence.
c. Be responsible for the correspondence for the Criminal Justice Student Organization unless otherwise provided by these bylaws.
d. Perform all other duties usually pertaining to this office.
4. Treasurer shall;
a. Be responsible for the general finances of the Criminal Justice Student Organization.
b. Be responsible for the preparation of the annual budget and, following its approval by governing body, provide each member a copy.
c. Receive all payments due to the Criminal Justice Student Organization, collect dues and give receipts.
d. Perform all other duties usually pertaining to this office.
5. If officers' fails to perform his/her duties as described in the bylaws the matter will be brought to the attention of officers and advisors.
Article VI. Executive Board
1. All officers of the Criminal Justice Student Organization will comprise the executive board which will organize and plan the business to be presented at monthly meetings.
2. All action taken by the executive board shall be reported at the next regular meeting of the Criminal Justice Student Organization by the secretary.
Article VII. Roberts Rule of Order
Roberts Rule of Order Newly Revised shall govern in all cases not provided for by the foregoing bylaws.
